Bootstrap 5

Hello,

 

Is there any timeline around supporting Bootstrap 5?  The first Beta version was just released last week, which marks the end of breaking changes before the first full release.  My team is currently using Bootstrap 5 and attempting to use kendo-theme-bootstrap, but am receiving SCSS build errors.  I assume this is because of the incompatibility with Bootstrap 5.

Currently we haven't got a timeframe as to when Bootstrap 5 will be supported from our side. But I will check with our front end developers and get back to you tomorrow with any additional information available.

Hi ,

We are using kendoui.for.jquery.2023.1.425 and trying to use bootstrap-5.3.0-alpha3 with it in one of our application.

But it seems Kendo UI is not supporting bootstrap-5.3.0-alpha3.

Please let us know which bootstrap version is compatible with latest version of kendo UI.

Hi Sachin,

The Kendo UI Bootstrap Theme is based on the Bootstrap 5 framework. To be more accurate on version 5.2.1.

We don't have the practice to depend on alpha versions, thus at the time of writing this reply, v5.3.0 is not supported.

Hello, Anthony.

I am not sure if I responded previously in any of your tickets, so it's best to introduce myself -- my name is Ivan and I serve as the lead developer for everything kendo themes.

To cut to chase: initially, I suppose we are going to have a Bootstrap 5 themed swatch and as time progresses, we'll build our theme around it.

I can't give you an exact timeline yet, because we haven't yet planned it. Usually, we do not jump into beta products, because they might and usually do change. To us, a good version is official release. (Time and time, we've dealt with breaking changes between RC).

There is one thing we can do for certain: eliminate said errors. Do you think you can attach a log, or a simple project that we can debug? Even if we don't have a full fledged bootstrap theme, I guess we can still play nicely with it.

Based on your log / project, I will add points of improvements in this public issue https://github.com/telerik/kendo-themes/issues/2154. You can follow the development of our Bootstrap v5 compatibility there and provide further feedback.
