I've created quite a few reports with my Q1 2013 version of the report designer and they are run on our web site. I need to get another license for the designer to have as second person creating reports. I'd like to know if they get a new version of the designer and I update both my designer and the dlls on the web site will there be any compatibility issues with the trdx files created with the old designer.

Seems like it should work but if there is anything that I should watch out for I'd be interested to know.

Thanks,
Don Rule

Hello Don,

The Standalone Designer is an executable you can freely distribute as a part of your solution. More details are included in the License Agreement (2.3 Report Designer License). If you refer to other usage of the Standalone Designer or the product, please contact our Sales team if you do not find the requested information in the linked license agreement.

About compatibility, as of Q2 2013 Telerik Reporting is built against .NET4, which is supported by Visual Studio 2010+ versions. This may affect the project in which the reports are used.

As far as it concerns the deserialization on report processing, our serializer is configured to work with TRDX files created with older Telerik Reporting version. If there are any breaking changes in the reporting engine, they are listed in our Release notes.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Stef
