We have a lot of reports saved in the plain text .trdx files and in a lot of cases prefer to use this format. I've seen .trdx refereed to as the "legacy" format over .trdp but was wondering if it's safe to continue using .trdx for the foreseeable future.

Hello Mike,
We do indeed consider the TRDX extension a legacy format, however, we have no plans of dropping the support for that extension anytime soon.
The TRDX format is essentially the same structure XML that you can find in the unzipped TRDP format's definition.xml resource so the two formats are pretty much the same and both should stay supported - Report Designer Tools at a Glance - Telerik Reporting.
I'm glad to hear this, as TRDX works really well in source control (Bitbucket, Github, Azure DevOps, ect ) to see what the exact changes were to files, so we strongly prefer the TRDX format.
