I'm using VS2008 (preference is vb.net) and had loaded the RadControls for Ajax last week. I started a web project using Framework 3.5. While in the Toolbox none of the RadControls show up. When I right click and choose SHOW ALL, the RadControls show up BUT they are all disabled,
non-selectable. All of them are that way. I also opened up the RadControlsSamples solution into VS2008. It loaded OK, after going thru the conversion process, but the controls in the Toolbox are still disabled, grayed out. Thought it might be my VS2008, so I went thru the repair process for VS2008, but still the same results, the controls are grayed out. I can't use them. What can I do???

Ted-
No problem. There is an easy way to re-add the RadControls to your toolbox in Visual Studio. With Visual Studio open and your web site project open, open a Windows Explorer window where you installed the RadControls. In your installation directory, look for the Bin35 folder. Drag the Telerik.Web.UI.dll from that folder directly on to your toolbox in Visual Studio. This will quickly and easily add all of the RadControls you need.
If you have any trouble with that approach, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

P.S. You may want to edit your post and remove your email address so that spam bots don't find it! Telerik's forum pages get indexed well by the search crawlers. :)

Hi Todd,
Thanks for taking the time to help me. I tried the steps you mentioned below. It did not enable the RadControls on the the toolbox. I actaully tried it two ways. First doing it when the Rad Controls where showing but were disabled. And also trying it after I unchecked all the Telerik controls in the Choose Toolbox Items form.. The RadControls populated but remained disabled. I even uninstalled a few other 3rd party controls: WebComponentsGo and the Ideablade DevForce controls. Did not matter, the RadControls still show but are disabled, unusable.
Last week, when I first installed the RadControls, the controls werre disabled. Then on Friday, all of a sudden they worked. But only for a few days. Sunday afternoon, I brought up my RadScheduler project in VS2008, and all the RadControls were disabled again. I had not been messing with any references, project options within VS2008 or anything else within Windows XP. At one point I uninstalled/reinstalled both VS 2008 and also VS2005. And then installed the RadControls. Same thing, disabled.
If you have any ideas, please let me know

Are you taking special care to add the correct version of the RadControls to your toolbox for the version of the .NET framework you're working with? If you're working on .NET 3.5 projects, make sure you're using the Bin35 assemblies (complied specifically for .NET 3.5 projects). If you're working on .NET 2.0 projects, make sure you use the Telerik.Web.UI assembly in the regular Bin folder.
You may also want to check this thread in the ASP.NET AJAX forums for help:
http://forums.asp.net/t/1101073.aspx
Let me know if that gets you any further.

Tod,
Yes, I used the /Bin35 Telerik.Web.UI.DLL file when dragging and dropping. I also read the ASP.NET article you specified and tried the right clicking on the Default.aspx to choose the View Designer option. But no change. I'm not sure what else to try.
Thanks,
Ted

I got an answer regarding this problem from a support ticket:
However strange it is, the problem is most probably caused by your wireless mouse/keyboard. Please try unplugging the wireless device, then start Visual Studio 2008 open your project and after it loads completely, plug the devices back.
This took care of my problem!

Strange indeed! I don't think I would have guessed that solution.
In any event, I'm glad you've got your problem solved and you can now develop in peace. I'll mark this solution as one of the weirdest I've seen!

Yes I know, what a way to get started with the RadControls, being able to see them but not use them!
Tod, thanks for hanging in there and helping me!

Been looking for a solution for this a good part of the day. In my case it was a usb-headset. I disconnected the headset and restarted vs2008 and the controls are back in the toolbox.
So it's not limited to wireless devices, maybe some usb issue? Anyways, I'm back on track. Thanks guys!
