what I have: a simple gridview with list of patients.
what I need to do: export the selected patients to excel, with details that are not in the gridview, like their measurements, activities and a graph generated by the telerik chart control.
so my question is: how should I do this, taking advantage of the export features of the gridview?

Please, could you throw some more light upon the way you store this additional data, which is not displayed in the RadGridView. I have prepared an example project that describes a possible solution to your case. The main idea is that the data that is not displayed is stored in hidden columns, which are set to visible while exporting is carried out. Please, refer to it and inform us if this solution fits into your needs.
