But, seems like it's just for the ASP.NET as it mentioned about the machine.config. what about those WinForm controls to be added to GAC?

The part of the Knowledge Base article covering the gacutil is applicable to the WinForms as well. We will introduce a separate atricle in the WinForms section until the end of next week.
