Kendo UI 2024 Q2 Release Webinar

Progress® 2024 Q2 release focuses on enabling development teams to boost productivity by rapidly building and designing innovative and inclusive digital experiences. Kendo UI 2024 Q2 Highlights:

Accelerated Design-to-Production Workflows:

• Full-blown design system documentation: Launched in 2023, the design system documentation progressively detailed more and more UI components leading to 100% component coverage with this release.
• Elevated consistency: Fostering consistency across different web platforms even further, this release features unified rendering to meet app standardization requirements.    
• Progress ThemeBuilder enhancements: 600+ component- specific theme variables, smart CSS code editor, and many more will be added to the powerful Progress ThemeBuilder app.   
• Improved color system: A new color system for Telerik and Kendo UI themes features unified theme customization and flexible SasS and CSS variable support. 

Embedded Data-Driven Experiences with Powerful Visualization Features:

• New data visualization components and improvements: Sankey Diagram, Polynomial, Exponential, Power and Logarithmic Trendline types, legend customization support, etc. help create tailored and stunning web visualizations.  
• Keyboard navigation in charts: Empowering development teams to build inclusive UI, we’ve added Keyboard Navigation to Charts.  

Enterprise-Ready UI Components to Innovate and Differentiate 

• Blending AI with UI with a new AI Prompt component: New AI Prompt control in Kendo UI allows you to align digital experiences with natural human behavior.   
• New Kendo UI for Angular components: Rating and Timeline controls accompany the AI Prompt added to the fruitful Kendo UI for Angular library. 
• KendoReact Server Components: KendoReact embraces React Server Components. The DataGrid is the first experimental KendoReact Server Component you can play around with. 

Modernization of Legacy Projects with Support for Complex Migration Scenarios:

• Desktop to web migration: New PropertyGrid control is added to Kendo UI for jQuery libraries. Alongside the recently released DockManager, it helps you recreate experiences your desktop users expect. 

Productivity Boost with Robust Features and Support for the Latest Frameworks:

• Multiple Grid improvements across the board: Row and column spanning, copy to clipboard, built-in print functionality, etc. equip developers with a full-featured Grid for building data-heavy and scalable apps.  
• KendoReact integration with Next.js: KendoReact UI components are fully compatible with Next.js and are tested and adapted to operate efficiently with server-side rendering and the Next.js framework. 
• Using KendoReact in your Vite project: Leverage the Vite build tool to bootstrap a KendoReact project supporting both JSX and Typescript. 
• Compatibility with Angular 18: Kendo UI for Angular is fully compatible with the latest features and innovations of Angular version 18. 
• Shifting to modern frameworks: To continue leading the market with a modern, secure, and compliant developers’ toolset, we’re announcing a couple of deprecations: 
  • With the support for the latest v18, Kendo UI for Angular deprecates the support for v13 and v14. Heads up that v15 will also be deprecated in November 2024.
  • November 2024 will be the last Kendo UI for Vue release with full support for Vue 2.  
  • Kendo UI for Vue Wrappers deprecation is planned for May 2025 with one year support during transition.  
  • Telerik Visual Studio Project Template for Mac will be phased out in 2024, following the discontinuation of Visual Studio for Mac.
