CHANGED
  • Data export is now in CSV format (previously it in Excel XML format)
  • Total unique users in period has been moved to “Advanced Query”
  • Custom scripts have been moved to a sub-menu under “Settings”
  • The “feature group” concept was removed and was replaced with the more powerful custom dashboard feature
  • Terminology changes:
    • General term: usage(s) -> session(s) We have decided to avoid the term “usage(s)” because it is too close to the term “user(s)”, which has a completely different meaning. A “session” is a single execution of an application from start to end. A given number of sessions means a given number of application executions. When we talk about a “user”, we mean data from a unique installation of an application (or data from a shared installation where each individual will be uniquely identifiable). A given number of users means data received from a given number of unique installations of the same type of application. When looking at data from a specific application in a given time range, the number of sessions will always be larger than or equal to the number of users. If equal, each unique application installation has only been executed once in the given time range.
    • Feature Usage: usage(s) -> count(s) We count how often different features in an application are used through TrackFeature calls. This data can be viewed in the “Feature Use” views. In previous version of Telerik Analytics we named the count of such feature executions “usages”. In the new version this will simply be renamed to “count” because it is a count of a given features execution. When we talk about users of specific features, the term “user(s)” has the same measning as explained above.
    • Exceptions: close -> resolve In the previous version of Analytics the term “close” was used in connection with exceptions, that could be “closed”. This has been renamed to “resolved” but the functionality is the same.
  • Analytics Starter License changes:
    • You can instrument and monitor two projects (up from one)
    • Up to 5 developers can work with a single Starter License (up from one)
    • New users start with the Enterprise Edition of the service for 30 days, after which the licenses is automatically convert to the Starter edition
    • Unlimited dedicated support during the 30-day trial with 72 hrs. response time (previously only community support was offered)
  • Subscription model changes. When purchasing Telerik Analytics clients have to choose:
    • The number of user seats (individual user accounts)
    • The type of user seat (Professional or Business)
    • A data plan (number of unique active installations in a 30 day period)

Deprecated Features

  • The Log Messages Report has not been available to new customers for the last 6+ months, and the functionality has also been removed from the monitor API’s. The reason for deprecating this functionality is due to the fact that the feature was only used by few customers and the Telerik Backend Services are a much better solution, which allows you to build a more powerful framework to collect log messages and log files of your choice.
  • In the new HTML5 dashboard there is no access to Log Message data any longer. We will continue to collect data for a limited time for those existing customers that rely on the data. Please contact Telerik, if you need to get access to the data in a transition period and to receive assistance with a port to Telerik Backend Services.
