Accessibility
The PanelBar is accessible by screen readers and provides full WAI-ARIA support.
WAI-ARIA Support
The PanelBar uses the aria-expanded
, aria-selected
, aria-disabled
and aria-hidden
properties on the nested elements depending on the selected, expanded, or disabled options.
The PanelBar uses the tree role.
To move the focus to the current keyboard navigation position, the PanelBar utilizes the aria-activedescendant
approach.
The PanelBar also follows the WAI-ARIA best practices for implementing the keyboard navigation for its widget role and is tested against the popular screen readers.
Section 508
The PanelBar is compliant with the Section 508 requirements.
Limitations
The following issues are related to the WAI-ARIA support limitations of browsers and screen readers:
- Internet Explorer 10 and 11 work best with the Jaws screen reader. Other readers are not supported very well. For more information, refer to issue 817699.
- Microsoft Edge works best with Microsoft Narrator screen reader. For more information, refer to issue 8571350.
