Hello,
I have a question about licencing. I work in company where is few development teams, each team for different project (client/server development). One team is working on project with GUI (project A), this project will reference Telerik WPF controls. Another team is working on project B which reference project A.
The question is, do i need licences of WPF controls  for developers on project B?

Thanks

David

Hello David Renza,

The licensing for our .NET controls is developer based. This means that each developer working on the UI (using our controls in design time in Visual studio or other development tool), needs a developer seat/license. Our products do not work with license keys and you can safely install them on any machine without worrying about license key errors. In this way the other team members such as designers, QAs, etc can also work on the solution.

If I understand you correctly, in your scenario only the developers for Project A will only be working work on the GUI, most probably in Expression Blend, and the developers from team B will use the controls in development environment. If this is the case, only the developers from Project B will need licenses for our WPF controls.

All the best,
Hristo

Hello Hristo,

You understand correctly, but I'm afraid i didn't fully understand your answer, you wrote "If this is the case, only the developers from Project B will need licenses for our WPF controls" but no licenses for team A (they are using GUI controls)? Is it typo and you mean "only developers from Project A need licenses" ?

Or I'd try ask a little differently.

There is a team of 3 people working on project. 2 of them are working on GUI in VS and/or in Expression Blend using telerik controls. The last one is developing only core of the project (he doesn't develop GUI), but he also needs referencing telerik controls because it's the same project.
In this scenario, do i need 2 or 3 licenses ?

Thanks

Hi David Renza,

In your case you need 2 licenses.
