Why is it that only the first map in a group header has its extent properly set?

The report I'm trying to create has multiple sections and at the start of each section, there needs to be a map to display all POI found in the section. The map generated for the first section of the report previews fine with the extent correctly set showing a zoomed-in map. The problem is with all the following sections, each of these maps don't have their extent set and instead just shows the un-zoomed world map.

I tried putting the map into its own sub-report but I experienced the same issue.

Hello Pascal,

The Map item automatically determines the highest zoomed-in level that will accommodate all your data points and fits the extent, defined by the viewport (map area).

You can override this behavior by setting the map extent coordinates yourself, but note that the extent you define will be adjusted by the Map item in conformance with your viewport. This approach is not very appropriate in case your data changes dynamically.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I have a map component in a group header.

When I preview the report the first map in this header does as you describe, it automatically determines the highest zoomed-in level that will accommodate all your data points and fits the extent. My problem is with the second, third, and all the following maps generated by the map component in the group header. All following maps have my POI on the map but the extent has been reset to view the entire world.

I am unable to reproduce the problem locally and will need to inspect your report locally in order to be able to diagnose the problem. Would it be possible to attach it here? A sample report where the issue is reproduced is also fine, however, I will also need a data sample in order to be able to preview the report.

Without seeing the report I could only guess but I would say that the problem is most likely with the data for the second and third groups. I suggest investigating that area first and checking what data is available for the map in those groups, especially if the map DataSource is being bound.

I will be looking forward to your next update.
