hi I'm running visual studio 2019, with Telerik Winforms UI 2019.2.508.40

I'm trying to convert an existing VB project to Telerik controls, but I don't see the menu option for the converter tool.    (Under Extensions->Telerik->Telerik for WInforms, I see a bunch of options:  Configure project, AddRad** References, and AddRad** Forms, but no option to convert.   (In a new or existing project)

I have read this thread: https://www.telerik.com/forums/convert-your-existing-application-to-telerik-ui-for-for-winforms-does-not-work

with no luck.

I have tried adding the Telerik Winforms VsExtension through the Extention manager but it is not showing anywhere that I can find as an option to install.

Running
C:\Program Files (x86)\Progress\Telerik UI for WinForms R2 2019\VSExtensions\VS2019\Telerik.WinControls.VSPackage.vsix
reports that:
"This extension is already installed to all applicable projects"

Any ideas?  Thanks,

Hi Evan,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Currently, Telerik UI for WinForms Converter Tool is only supported in Visual Studio 2017 or older. The development of the extension for VS 2019 is still under consideration and for now there is no automatic way to convert your project.

What I suggest is you to use older version of Visual Studio, where the UI for WinForms Converter Tool option is available. In this documentation article you could find more details about installing UI for WinForms Converter Tool in Visual Studio 2017. In the older Visual Studio versions, the extension could be installed with Telerik UI for WinForms Visual Studio standalone installer.

Please let us know in case any further assistance is needed.

I just downloaded the UI for WinForms today for a trial but there is still no conversion tool for Visual Studio 2019. Is this going to be available soon? Since my projects have all been converted to VS 2019 I can't open them in an older version of VS.

Thanks

Hello Dan,

Due to the previously mentioned breaking changes in the Roslyn .NET compiler, currently we are not able to implement Conversion Tool for Visual Studio 2019 without causing problems for older versions of Visual Studio.

That is why we have decided to take a different approach and work on introducing a stand alone conversion tool application which will be available in future releases.

I have logged a new feature request item in our feedback portal. You can track its progress, subscribe for status changes and add your comments on the following link - Converter tool as a standalone application.

I have also updated your Telerik points
