Is it possible to use a pre-made form as the background / basis for a report in Telerik Reporting?
In other words, I have a PDF form on which I'd like to drop data fields. is it possible to load or import the form into the report writer and then drop fields on it per normal? I can think of the "stretching" limitation, but I'm curious if the report could not stretch the page, but spawn to new ones as the data were merged in some way.
Thanks!

Hello MWM,
You cannot use external forms/documents for the report generation as the report definition is not document in the first place, but a template following struct rules for layout and pagination and meant for generating documents.
Our best guess for what you describe, would be to make a screenshot/scan of the form and save it to a usable format such as png/jpeg. Then use this image as background for the detail section and place items on top of it... the same goes for other sections as well. You just need to make sure that both section and image have the same width/height.
Kind regards,

Steve,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I'm not sure how well things would work / line-up using JPG images as backgrounds, but it might. Perhaps note a suggestion/request for consideration of somehow adding the capability for "forms population" or "forms data filling" as this is a common need today -- merge data into a pre-made form.
Thanks again!

Hello MWM,
Well that is basically what a reporting solution is for - creating those templates through the report, not trying to embed external ones. You should not think of the report as an editable document and have in mind that editing/revising a particular page or item is not possible when using templates with pre-set rules and styles.
Sincerely yours,
Steve

Do you still agree with your statements that are now over a year old? I see several PDF Libraries that allow you to fill the fields in a pdf document through an ASP.Net application. Are there any plans for telerik to support this in the near future?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi Warren,
This is exactly what I've tried to explain in my previous replies - we're not a PDF library, so we cannot be compared with such products. Additionally we do not understand the essence of your first sentence - can you clarify what you've meant?
