Hello,

I'm completely new in Telerik reporting, I'm trying it now :)

I'd like do something basic (I think). I have an ASP.NET MVC 5 application. A button on a page, I'd like with a complex object created in an action use it as report data source. I read the documentation, around the web and the sample in the demo folder but it's still not clear to me.

How link report designer to the complex object at design time and at runtime ? Do you have a real example ?  A clear doc ? or a good explanation ? ;-)

Thanks,

Hello Kris-I,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik Reporting.

The HTML5 Viewer and Reporting REST Service work in a client-server pattern, not related to MVC. The MVC project appears as a client for the viewer and service.
The Reporting REST Service is a WebAPi based controller that can be separated in another project. The viewer needs only the address of the service to communicate with it an to received content from the server-machine.

Using the HTML5 Viewer in MVC applications and binding data

Having the above into account, if you have data manipulated in standard MVC controllers, you need to submit and save this data back on the server. Then on requesting reports, they can pull data from the server.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Stef
