Hi, we're in the middle of upgrading some older Telerik Reporting stuff (developed with Q3 2009) and after installing a newer version (Q3 2013) our 5 reports crash with an overwhelming 399 errors in VS 2010. We are trying to upgrade to use the installer named Telerik_Reporting_Control_Panel_Q3_2013.exe. Loading the designer works after deleting the SUO file and using the old DLLs.
Searching for how to upgrade to newer versions has failed because of broken links or no useful information.
So it will be highly appreciated if someone can help us pointing out the best way to get these reports working again.
TIA, Pieter

Hello Pieter,

Please check my colleague's post on the same topic in the Errors after upgrading to Q1 2013 forum thread.

In general, there are several major changes that may concern your project:
  • Reports should be wrapped in a report source object before being set to a report viewer, SubReport or action.
  • As of Q1 2013 there are removed several obsolete properties and namespaces, which can be fixed automatically by gradually upgrading and touching the reports in the report designer as suggested in the forum above.
  • As of Q2 2013 Telerik Reporting is built against .NET4, which is supported in Visual Studio 2010+ versions.
  • As of Q1 2014 the WPF and Silverlight ReportViewer controls use only implicit styles.

I hope this information helps you.

Stef

Thanks Stef for your reply.

A couple of questions before moving on.

1. Reading the thread you mention, what do you refer or where do I find the upgrade wizard?

2. And we only have two installers, how do we obtain the ones in between?

I guess it is still not clear what to do next.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards, Pieter

Hello Pieter,

The mentioned Upgrade Wizard can be found in the Telerik tab - Reporting menu in Visual Studio. More details about upgrading can be found in the Upgrading Telerik Reporting Projects article.

About the lacking versions. Please open a support ticket with an account having a valid subscription for Telerik Reporting and we will enable them for download in your account. Usually all products older versions can be downloaded after logging to your account and navigating to Products & Subscriptions - DevCraft - Download - (product) - Older Versions (for example in case of DevCraft bundle).

Stef
