VS2015 keeps nagging me to update my project with the latest version of Telerik MVC. Currently I'm using 2016.2.607. I got tired of the nagging, so I used the Upgrade wizard, and absolutely nothing in my code worked anymore.  It was by far one of the most horrible upgrade experiences.  What is the best way to update this to the latest version without having to basically re-write everything?

It seems the biggest issue is I'm currently using the CDN, whereas the upgrade wizard changes all the Kendo JS and CSS to use local downloaded files, which don't exist since I was using the CDN.  Is the CDN no longer an option?

Hi Joe,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing such issues.

Some of the Notifications in your Visual Studio could be disabled in case you are not updating on each new version of the UI for ASP.NET MVC product. The following steps will help you to disable them:
  1. Open the VSExtensions Options command under the Telerik menu in your Visual Studio
  2. Under the General section uncheck the options from the Project Upgrade Notifications for Detected Local Distributions expander
  3. Select the ASP.NET MVC section and uncheck the Show me a message when a newer version is available on www.telerik.com option in case you want to disable the newer version notifications

Once applied these options will disable some of the notifications you get in your Visual Studio.

As for the upgrade process I would suggest to use the Configure wizard to set your project to use CDN. The following page will provide more details: LINK
Once your project uses the CDN Support the Upgrade wizard will respect your settings and the local resources will be not added.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Dyanko
