I am using Ribbonbar q4 2006. I think that is free. It's correct ? I am user of VB2008 and i have download it from MS site.
I cant to have update or not ?
And if yes, my application can change the version

Indeed, the version that you have is free and comes as part of the Visual Studio benefits. This offer has been running since January this year and will end at the end of this year. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to update the product during its promotion, so you will have to use the version that you have.
At the end of this year we will need to update the offer and we will provide the new version of the RibbonBar (Q3 2007). Stay tuned for more information on this.
To get the newest version, please either try the Visual Studio Benefits page in January/February, or contact us here and we will provide it to you, free of charge.

No, Paul, it is not yet. The Global Launch Wave is scheduled for end of February and we think that we will be able to provide the ribbon shortly afterwards. We will have a new product for the VS2008 Benefits, but I will keep this one a secret for now. We will do our best to give you the ribbon as soon as official Visual Studio release launches.

VS2008 Express is available for download from the Microsoft website. I am using the Rad ribbon bar for WinForms Q4 2006 since it is available through the VS2005 Express benefits. Is there any service packs or new version update available for it?

wait, I've been to the VS express benefits website, all it offers is ribbonbar 2006 q4, if 2007 q3 is out, then doesn't that mean that the last version was 2007 q2? if that's the case then, how come it isn't updated on the rewards site?

oh, never mind, you couldn't update it for the promotion period (i gotya!).
i guess i'll just stick with 2007Q3 demo until ribbonbar 2007q3 (or whatever version) is released on the VS express benefits website.

To our regret time did not permit us to provide a new major version of RadRibbonBar. The good news is that it is in our plans to do start working on it as soon as next month. I will do my best to update this thread with more information on the RibbonBar as it appears and even provide a beta of the new version.
I am sorry if this causes you inconvenience. We realize the importance of a more powerful ribbon control and we will push its development timeframe.

Let me start with the good news - we have started working on the next version of the ribbonbar, which will be officially released in mid summer. It will feature extended compliance to the Microsoft guidelines, better design-time support and numerous bug fixes.
I have to say that RadRibbonBar has not gotten much updates after its official release, other than some minor fixes. Since many of you are waiting the new version, we have decided to give it High importance and it is now part of our plans for Q2.
I will be happy to upload bi-weekly builds so that you can witness the progress we are making. Let me know if this is OK and I will check how we can accomplish this.
By the way, for all of you who will be at TechEd this year, please stop by our booth (1101) to say HI. I will be there, together with other Telerikers, and I will be happy to address any questions you may have in person.

Does the beginning of August count as "the middle of the summer"? What word is there on a release date for the new ribbon control?

The Q2 2008 version is an important marker for RadRibbonBar - we have started working on the many requests we have received for new functionality and enhancements. The first step was to improve the application menu, which was based on RadMenu. We switched RadMenu to use our latest layout system, which makes the menu very robust and much more extendable. The new layouts gave us the freedom to rework RadRibbonBar’s application menu into a totally new control - the Office 2007-style RadApplicationMenu. The new control talks to RadRibbonBar better than before, and provides excellent design-time experience and skinning support.
The next steps will be to move the ribbonbar itself to the new layouts and to improve further the design-time experience.

If you read this entire post in full you will find that the answer to your question is no. You cannot update the RadRibbonBar downloaded from the Microsoft Registration Benefits Portal. You need to wait until Telerik release a new version of the RadRibbonBar (this is discussed in detail in the other posts) and then I assume wait for Microsoft to post the new version on the Registration Benefits Portal.

Second, in those posts up, it is said that once Q2 2008 version is published it will be possible to update my current version. Currently, Q3 2008 version is published. So accordingly to those posts up, I should be able to update my version to the most recent one (or the one which is updated and made available on MS Benefits Web Portal).

After reading through any 'update' threads I found for the ribbon bar, this seemed the appropriate place to post. It's mentioned that an update was planned for release to the MS Portal for the free control - and I've also read a couple of threads on Win7 errors while trying to use it. I've moved from XP to Win7 for dev projects, and before I attempt to install the ribbon, I was hoping for updated info on the 'update'... The version available on the portal (as of today) is still showing as Q4 2006 through the installer's properties, so it appears that no update has been posted. Is that a correct assumption, and there's still not 1 update after almost 4 years?
If that assumption is wrong, and it's only a mis-labeled installer - or - there really is no newer update(s) available... can the control be used with VS 2008 on Win 7 without issues? If the control has been updated and not posted to the portal's download page... where can a copy be downloaded from?

You may purchase the latest version of our controls and you will receive the newest version of RadRibbonBar which contains a lot of bug fixes and new features as Windows 7 support.
