Hello Oscar,
Thank you for drawing our attention to this issue. I logged it as a bug in our bug tracking system and it will be fixed in one of the next internal builds.
Meanwhile as a workaround you could use the .value() method. See this snippet for a reference.

Hi Plamen,
The reason why I use .text() method to initialize the comboBox is because .value() method pre-fetchs the data, as the documentation says, and this is undesirable from a point of view of performance. I want comboboxes fetch data just when it's necessary, and that's when the user opens the comboBox or changes its value.
This prevents I can't migrate my applications from KendoUI Q2 2014 to Q2 2015.
Kind regards,
Oscar.

Hello Plamen,
I'm afraid v2015.2.727 internal build doesn't fix this issue.
Kind regards.
Oscar.

Hello Plamen,
I've been waiting for Q3 2015 but it doesn't fix this issue.
it doesn't work from Kendo 2015 Q1 SP2, as you can see in my sample of my first post.
Kind regards,
Oscar
Hello Oscar,
In the last months we were focused on implementing the Spreadsheet, which is a huge development effort, and unfortunately influenced tasks with lower priority. You can keep track of the issue status here. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hi Plamen,
Has threre been any progress on this issue?
In my company, regressions have high severity.
Kind regards
I am afraid that the problem is still not fixed as it is stated in the Github issue. We've scheduled it for Q1 2016 and if there are no tasks with higher priorities, we will address it.
