We are investigating which controls will be better to use. We have ASP.NET MVC application that need to make the request to the server smoothly through AJAX. We are aiming to build a reporting web application, but it is still a bit undefined how deep analyses it should display. So, we still don't know if we are going to use the current relational database or cubes. Can you please advice if it is better to use the MVC chart control with AJAX or the reporting tools or combining them?

Hi Teodora,
If you would be mainly using charts as means to show your data, then you should review the new slick chart item from the MVC suite. The chart item in the Telerik Reporting package is based on the old ASP.NET AJAX chart control which development is currently stopped.
Telerik Reporting can retrieve data from an OLAP cube via the designated CubeDataSource Component while the MVC chart cannot be bound to cube. So in other words, you should consider your requirements before choosing a tool for your needs.

This is to let you know that we have released an OLAP chart in our latest Telerik Reporting release, if you would like to give it a spin. Here is also a blog + video on how to use Telerik Reporting in MVC 4.
We will be working on a new web viewer for Q2 2013 which will work with MVC without the extra steps.
