Hi,

I am using Telerik Reporting control Q3 2010. I have loaded the report with chart and list of details. while taking printout in a network printer, it takes a lot of time. After analysis of the time delay, i found that it took a lot of memory to transfer data to the printer. Usually it takes more that 100 MB and higher corresponding to the report and takes more than 15  seconds to start printing. How to minimize the size of memory it takes and get the printout soon.

please suggest me how to rename the document name as well

Quick response would be highly appreciated.

Hi Ragav,

If your application is being used inside a browser, you can set the ReportViewer.UseNativePrinting property to false that should improve print size greatly. The native Silverlight print is slow and huge in size and we do not have control over that.

Kind regards,

I´ve the same problem with reports about 120mb big.
I tried your solution, but instead of showing a print dialog popup the report viewer creates now a "exportcachedreport" file without a file extension... how to use that?

Hello,

By default Silverlight native printing is used for printing in Silverlight Report Viewer. The Silverlight native print generates RGB bitmaps and this causes the enormous print size. However you can switch to PDF print with Silverlight report viewer's UseNativePrinting property set to false. Generally the greatest benefit from using the Silverlight native printing is that you do not need the Adobe's plug-in.
