I purchased the web version straight after looking at the excellent demo's, assuming, wrongly, that like almost all software I have purchased in the past, DETAILED documentation for using PHP and Jquery would be provided.

I'm new to this, I need a good set of examples or documentation that will help me learn and, in time. become a skilled and fluent user of Kendo UI, I am really disappointed that this is not provided.

It's hard enough trawling through the web learning how to use PHP, but I DID expect a company of known high repute like Telerik to have excellent examples and documentation for me to learn, from a single source, the bulk of what I need to know, particularly after parting with hard earned $$$ for the Kendo UI web version.

After trawling through posts for three days, looking at examples given, I'm no closer to having a fairly simple working combo box with a drop down or a multu select list with a customers contact details on final selection, than i was before I purchased.

I'm starting to think I'll get a trip to Mars on a Virgin flight before I get something up and running with Kendo

It's also obvious from Posts and questions that even highly experienced programmers and web designers are also frustrated at poor documentation.

Before you start writing any more widgets, bells, whistles or flying pig switches, hows about writing some good, robust and easy to follow documentation with excellent examples of DataSource connection using PHP, it's not a lot to ask.

Hello Danny,

Kendo UI's suite is currently client-side only so there is no specific documentation for server-side platforms like PHP or ASP.NET. You could check these articles for more information on how to use Kendo UI in PHP environment:
Get Rolling With Kendo UI And PHP – Part 1
Get Rolling With Kendo UI And PHP – Part 2

In the future, we will start shipping Kendo UI wrappers for various popular server-side frameworks, making server-side configuration even easier and we will add the corresponding documentation articles as well. Kendo UI for MVC will be our fist set and it is planned for the Q2 release in the summer. Server wrappers for PHP are on our radar as well, but for the time being I cannot provide an exact time frame.

Hi Georgi

Thank you for honest answer and information.

In view of it being, "On the radar", with, as far as I can see, one x two part example on using with PHP, how about having say 10 web pages of examples using PHP.

This would fill in a gap, would not take very long to do, bearing in mind the talent pool that surrounds you.

I'm certain a LOT would be grateful for this, most of your examples are based on Odata, until I found the Kendo website I thought O Data was something you got after a BJ.

Whatever you can do to help those using PHP, before it's included in wrappers etc, would, in no doubt be greatly appreciated by end users and would probably result in more sales for you, seeing as it is one of the most popular platforms on the planet.

It's no good having a great product with huge commercial potential, then market it using something (Odata) that almost no one out there currently uses as a popular dataSource.

Somebody should walk away from computer for a while and go learn marketing and customer support. They are just as important as a (Potentially) good product.

Kind regards

Danny

Hi again Danny,

Thank you for the feedback and the advice - I forwarded them to the corresponding teams. I also noticed that I forgot to add another PHP - related resource - sorry about that:
