Hi Steve!

Thank you for the quick response. It's a great pity that these features are currently not supported.
Have you any idea how I could resolve pogrammaticaly my problem with skip labels (i.e. Label start at row 2 column 3) ?

When will you support these features?

Best regards
Erich

Hi Erich,

We cannot engage with a specific time-frame for this functionality as our current goal is to cover some other major features that are still missing such as richtextbox item, crosstab, table item etc. We are also working on improving/optimizing the rendering performance, which we believe is not satisfactory for larger reports.

Thank you for the understanding on the matter.

I searched but did not find a more recent post about this issue.
I could not find how to do it in the latest version, but may have overlooked it.
We are needing this functionality as well and wondered if it was supported in the latest version.
If so, how do you do it?

Hi DBlagg,

The built-in Multi-Column functionality has not changed and still does not support skipping labels and across then down layout. The columns actually represent the separate pages of the report, which are treated as logical pages rendered on the same physical page. Columns are arranged from left to right, top to bottom, and are separated by white space between each, and data flow in the columns is top to bottom, left to right. If the report is divided into more than one column, each physical page is divided vertically into columns, each of which is considered a logical page. The easiest way to visualize this is imagining the columns in a newspaper.

That said, the current implementation of multi-column layout is not due to technical limitation, but it represents our understanding on the functionality. Mailing label standards cover their size, space between columns etc, but the flow is not standardized and can be handled as needed.

Anyway as our product is very powerful, you can handle this scenario even now with some manual preparation of the data and our agile Crosstab item. The idea is to do the CrossTab grouping by a criteria that will always return equal number of columns. This is accomplished by using "Id % X" and "Id / X" where X = number of columns and Id is consequential numbering (1, 2, 3, ....)

All the best,
Steve

I come from an active reports background and they provide this functionality out of the box.
This seems like basic reporting functionality to me.
Are there any plans to incorporate this instead of the workaround?
Do you have a sample project of how to do this?
With that corner area on the crosstab, I'm not sure how you would be able to accomplish this or skipping labels either one?

Hi,

We do not plan to change this behavior at this time. I've attached a sample project that shows how to incorporate this with the CrossTab report item. You can also see this implementation in action in the ReportCatalog demo report that is shipped with our examples (this is the report allowing you to navigate to all other demo reports).
