Hello Christoph,
The article you've referenced and the text you've quoted does not state that you should purchase them. Download and using the trial version of the controls would work without problems, also you can always use the assemblies shipped with Telerik Reporting and available in C:\Program Files\Telerik\Reporting Q2 2010\Examples\CSharp\SilverlightDemo\bin.

Could you please expand as to why those are necessary at all? Is this some design time requirement?
