Set read only on a per row basis

Hi,

Is there a way to set read only on a per row basis?

We are using batch editing similar to this demo:

http://demos.kendoui.com/web/grid/editing.html 

We would like to add custom locking/unlocking of rows so that rows are only editable once they have been unlocked.
