Hi,

I think that in your (really good!) reports don't exists a really important feature.

In any section (Details, Header, Footer, Group Header, Group Header...) will be really good the possibility of section split, in example because we want show one of section in certain context and not in other.

You think is possible to add this feature (that exists in example in Crystal Reports) for a future release?

Thanks

marc.

Hello Marcello,

You can use Panel items inside a report section to split it in different logical parts. Then use Conditional Formatting to show one panel or another depending on the context.

Another option is to create a multi-column report. For more information, please refer to the How to: Create a Multi-Column Report help article.

Hi Nasko,
I think that exists workarounds for this, but nothing is clean and logically complete as a real Section Split.
Tipically I use a fake Group without "group by" option and it works good but I think this is an important feature for a good work with complex reports.

You can use Panel items inside a report section to split it in different logical parts. Then use Conditional Formatting to show one panel or another depending on the context.

Ok, and now how to reduce the section height when a panel is not visible?

Another option is to create a multi-column report. For more information, please refer to the How to: Create a Multi-Column Report help article.

I'm asking about a horizontal split, not a vertical split.

 marc.

Hello Marcello,

Using a static group section is a feasible solution in this scenario and you can stick to this solution if it works well for you.

The other approach with the panels will require setting the section height to a very small value initially (in the constructor of the report, or in the designer). At run-time the section will be expanded automatically by its visible child items.
