Hello,

We don't have a WPF RibbonBar in our plans for the near future. WPF Docking control, however, is very likely to be introduced with Q3 2009, near the end of the year.

Just a couple of questions here...

1) Is there any chance the docking comes in Q2?  We are starting a new application and want to have dockable windows for our WPF application.
2) Why is there no ribbon bar for the WPF planned?  The ribbon bar is the UI that Microsoft is backing so that means it is most likely the UI of the future.  AND WPF is the future UI platform for forms development.  These two just seem to marry together.  Can the Windows Form Ribbon bar be hosted in the WPF application?  Are there problems with this?

Thanks,
LK

I don't understand how you do not have this on your road map if your competitors have already released a version.  I know that my company is always looking out for what our competitors are doing next so that we can at stay ahead or at least keep up.

As another note, both companies already have the docking functionality released for WPF as well.  I am not by any means promoting these companies as I have had great success with telerik.  But sometimes I just find it hard to believe the lines that come from the telerik forums.  Please let me know if there is anyway to have these functionalities pushed higher on the priority list (or even put on there to begin with).

Thanks,
LK

Hello lkeel,

We will be definitely working on these controls during the Q3 release. We already logged them in the To-Do list with a higher priority. We might event launch a beta version several weeks before the official Q3 release so that we will be able to gather valuable feedback from customers like you.

Thank you for your reply.  I am VERY glad to hear this has been bumped in your priority.  I can't wait to get these new controls and start working with them.

Thanks again!

I need to weigh in here as well. I am being pressured to look at Infragistics for this exact reason. We need WPF docking and are also interested in seeing a ribbon that renders like Windows 7 / Office 2010.

Hello maxinteger,

Thanks for the feedback. We are working on these controls and we know how important they are. The official release will be with our Q3 release ( at beginning of November).

We are also looking for a WPF Ribbon Bar - could you provide us a beta?

If you can't we need to buy another controls collection - but that wouldn't be really nice!

Hello Ching-Yen,

The ribbon and dock controls in the tfs manager are not Telerik's. We will release a beta of docking for WPF next week and also a Silverlight version of the ribbon. The WPF version of the ribbon is scheduled for middle of October.

Hi Ching-Yen,

telerik isn't using their own docking or ribbon in their application.

You can get the docking called "AvalaonDock" here:

http://www.codeplex.com/AvalonDock/

And the ribbon called "Odyssey RibbonBar" here:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/OdysseyRibbonBar.aspx (out of the odyssey controls collection: http://odyssey.codeplex.com/ )

kind regards,

johannes

Hello lkeel,

You can find the files under your account's Downloads section. The Beta Download files are called Q3 2009 Beta Automatic/Manunal installation.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi lkeel,

The Silverlight RibbonBar is now available in Beta version. You can check the demos online and download the code from your accounts.

Please let us know any feedback that you have!

PS: The WPF version of the ribbon will be available within less than a month with the beta2 of the suite. Official release is planned for the beginning of November with our Q3 release.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I was actually looking for the updated RadControls for WPF, not for SilverLight.  Is there an update to WPF that includes the new controls?

Many thanks

Hello jay,

RadDocking for WPF is now available as part of Beta 1 for RadControls for WPF. Again, you have to log into your account and download the files under Your Account/Free Trials/RadControls for WPF section.
The files are marked with Q3 2009 Beta in the download name.

RadRibbonBar for WPF is not available yet for download. It will be included in Beta 2 release due on 14th of October.

Let me know if you have other questions.
