Hello Sekar,

I've tested the scenario you describe on Windows XP Pro SP3, with Visual Studio Team System 2008 and Telerik Reporting Q1 2009. Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce the chart dialog crash you describe. We have the following questions/suggestions:
  • what is the exact Win XP version you use? Is it localized?
  • Please try restarting the report designer and/or Visual Studio and see if the problem still persists.
  • Try creating a new report, add chart to and try the steps - does it happen again?
  • Can you test this on another machine as well to see if it can be reproduced and is not machine specific?

Sincerely yours,
Steve

Thanks for your reply. I tried it again in a brand new report and got the same issue.
I founded that the property dialog box is killed when you try to drop a new chart, go to the Properties | Labels, Legends & Titles and click on the Series dropdown (which should be empty by this time) and click  any where else in the window. You will see the window is closed automatically ( I assume some exception raised due to the click action in dropdown when it is empty and kills the properties window).

But if we have some values in the series, this behaviour is not happening though.

Hello Sekar,

We were able to confirm the problem, now that you've clarified that it happens only when there are no series available. We've logged it in our bug tracking system and it would be addressed for a subsequent version of the product.

Your Telerik points have been updated as a token of gratitude for bringing this to our attention.

Sincerely yours,
Steve
