I have a report that I am creating.  It is a single page document that I am trying to put a border around the complete document.  Setting the Border settings on the report are shown in the attached png file.   I have tried multiple setting with no effect on the printout.  I am using Q1 2009 controls.

I have attached a screen shot of the viewer showing the document with the border.
I have attached a screen shot of the printout without the border.

Suggestions???

Doug

Hi Doug Hamilton,

Currently the Image Rendering will not take into account the report's borders. This is a known limitation that will be fixed in a subsequent version of Telerik Reporting. As workaround our suggestion is to set the borders to the report sections instead.

Please excuse us for the temporary inconvenience.

Peter,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I am 80% there.  It shows a complete border in the viewer and prints most of it out.  The detail section, however, contains a sub report and the line will not continue down the report for the detail section when the subreport stops.  See attached.  I tried placing the border on the subreport as well but that did not work.

Hello Doug Hamilton,

This is a known behavior. Generally the detail section is being rendered depending on the data so if the data fills half of the page the border will be rendered for this half of the page. If the report is only one page our suggestion is to set the Page Sections (Page Header/Footer Report Header/Footer, Detail) height to fill the whole page. This will eliminate the border interruption. For example if your Page Settings Paper Size is 11in height with 1in top margin and 1in bottom margin you have to set the page section sum height to be equal to 9 in.

Peter,

Thank you for the reply.  I was still having issues getting the border to print per your suggestion.  Even though it is a one page report, there is one field that can force the balance of the report to move to a 2nd page because of the variable length of the data in the field. (it is a 2000 character varchar field in SQL with a legal description).

Anyway, I took a break from the report to think about it logically and I have come up with a working solution that is easy to implement and gives me no issues to this point.

Hope this helps others:

  • I set the report margins to .25 all the way around.
  • I created a transparent gif that is 8x10 and has a black 3 pixel border box around it.
  • I set this image as the background image for the report.
  • This allows me to make each section on the report set to its minimal height for the data and still have a border print around each page on the report.

I have attached the image in case it is useful by anyone else who does not have the ability or time to create one.

Thanks for the insight!

Doug
