The GanttView Drag and Resize Configurator demo shows some great functionality, but it is not what I want to do at this stage.
I want to be able to use drag and drop to change the order of the tasks as they appear in the GanttView without changing the start or end time for the task. For example, I would like to be able to drag the 5th task from the top of the ganttView and drop it on the 10th task from the top and have what was the 5th task now display as the 10th task.

Hi Barry,
I am sorry for my misunderstanding.
Currently reordering tasks with drag and drop is not possible in RadGanttView. We have this feature in our backlog, but since the tasks for Q3 release are not planned yet. we cannot tell at this stage when exactly it will be implemented.

Is there any update on this? Did this get into Q3?

Hello,
Unfortunately this feature was delayed and will not be included in Q3 2012 release. We will do our best to provide it for Q1 in the beginning of next year.

Thanks for the update on this. This is likely the biggest barrier to adopting this control instead of a solution involving a heavily modified RadTreeListView and a custom-built GanttChart component. That and copy / paste support, a viable printing solution, and row / task double click eventing.
Related to this: the more the columns area of the GanttView functions like things in RadTreeListView (or RadGridView), the better.

I would like to reinforce some of Matts comments:
Without being able to rearrange tasks conveniently within a Gantt chart (eg Drag & Drop) I did not think it was worth pursuing its use, despite the fact that the rest of its current functionality would be very useful to my end users.
I also think that the ability to print out a Gantt chart is very important.
That's the grizzle, .. now for a question... or two
When you say that the Gantt chart does not support Drag & Drop are you just saying that it does not support Drag & Drop through the Telerik Drag & Drop interface or are you saying that you cannot even implement drag and Drop through standard Windows WPF drag & drop mechanism's? I have not looked at that possibility myself yet.
...and, is it documented somewhere what you are going to be working on for the Gantt chart for Q3 2012?

Hello Barry,
We haven't tested the drag and drop of GanttTasks with the standard WPF Drag & Drop mechanism - note that this will require a lot of custom code and at the moment we haven't the resources to implement such an example.
The most priority tasks that we have for the Q3 release are:
