Question regarding the expand event

I have not had a chance to review the drill down capabilities of Q3 yet, but the biggest question I have is whether or not the expand event allows me to load the next level down of data on demand.  In otherwords, can I initiate another data call at the time the expand event is triggered and get just the data for the item that has been expanded.

I do not want to load all data for all levels at time of render.  Only as needed.

Hi Terry Webster,

Telerik Reporting needs all of the data because the report engine has to do the data processing (groupings and filtering) of the whole data prior to render the report. The good news is that once the data is retrieved and processed the report engine will not make any further calls for the drill down functionality. It's actually a Toggle Visibility Action.

Thanks for the response, but this has been an issue with Reporting Services as well.  I am going to test Telerik Reporting to see if it performs better than reporting services, but my suspicion is that it will not.

We have a need for extremely deep reporting (multiple drill downs) and the size of the data to start is rather large.  With that being said, many times the Reporting Services pages take minutes (sometimes hours to render) get all the data prior to rendering it.  This data is in Analysis Services and has data already rolled up for calculations.

It would really be nice if someone created an interactive reporting system that doesn't require all the data to be loaded immediately. 

If there was a way for us to tap into that event and get our on data, that would suffice.
