Hi
I see the headline NEW Standalone Report Designer for end-users in http://demos.telerik.com/reporting/home.aspx but I'm having difficulty finding any supporting documentation, overview or video.

I'd like in the first instance to determine if it would be suitable to be made available to our users and what is required to do so.
Can you let me know where the corresponding documentation is please?

Thanks
Craig

Hello Craig,

The headline refers to the Standalone Designer distributed with Telerik Reporting. It comes with a royalty-free license, which means that you can distribute it freely to your end-users. For more details, please take a look at our license agreement(4. License for Redistribution)

The Standalone Designer can be found under C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Reporting <VERSION>\Report Designer(the default installation folder).

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Stef,
Thanks for your reply. I had tried the exe but my immediate thoughts were this is a bit complicated for our end users. I was hoping to be able to embed the report designer in our application and customise the features made available to our end users.
Are there any plans to make it available in the near future so I can do that?

Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,

When you provide the Standalone Designer to your end users, you can add templates with predefined SQL queries or include external assemblies to let them work with your custom data layer. The tool itself cannot be customized in terms of adding removing tabs from the ribbon.

Other approach you can try is to create custom UI to allow users to select the data and the type of visualization, and then use already created reports or create such dynamically based on the users preferences.

If you need further help, please elaborate on the scenario and the role of the end-user in defining the report structure and data.

Stef
