I am running SQL 2008 R2 on Windows 7.  

Telerik Report Designer, Q3 2015.

I can't seem to get a connection string to connect to my database.  

Any thoughts on what I should select to connect?

Hello Kurt,

Please check the Connecting the SqlDataSource component to a Data Source help article which contains example connection strings and information.
Also, check the Connection Strings and Configuration Files MSDN page if you are using named connection string in the report.
