We recently experienced an issue with R3 2019 (13.2.19.918) where a user would go to our report screen and the report wouldn't load.  That user was then unable to navigate or use any other part of our web application without closing their browser.  We were unable to reproduce the issue, and it happened intermittently in production.  I noticed in the release notes of today's internal build (R3 2019 SP1 13.2.19.1004), that an issue has been fixed with WebAPI and the note says "Service stops responding in specific cases".  We want to know if this is the issue we were experiencing before deploying this version.

Hi Bob,

The issue "Service stops responding in specific cases" we fixed in the Internal Build was a bug in our algorithm for storage cleaning introduced with version 13.2.19.918. It was related to the FileStorage of the Telerik Reporting REST Service. Hence, when the problem appears it will require a REST Service restart. The problem was on the server-side and should not be fixed with a browser restart.

Could you ask your user to check for error in the console of the browser? He/She may also use Fiddler to get more info from the requests/responses.

Is the issue related to a particular browser, or occurs in all browsers?

The issue occurred in all browsers. We have since reverted to a prior version of telerik reports so we won’t be able to check browser consoles for errors until we redeploy in a test environment. One thing to note: once we received a report of the issue occurring, it would then happen to all users attempting to use reports.  We would then have to restart the entire Azure web application. Eventually the issue would reoccur but we couldn’t reproduce it on demand.

Hi Bob,

If the issue is reproducible on all browsers and can be fixed by restarting the service, it may be due to the bug fixed in Internal build 13.2.19.1004. It is expected also the issue to reoccur eventually. You may try upgrading to the above version, or the Latest Internal Build.
