Hi. I'm currently using ActiveReports and considering switching to Telerik Reporting. One of the issues I am having is the ability to create an Excel report with multiple pages (sheets). The number of pages is unknown until the dataset is created. ActiveReports handles this, but with a restriction, when you export to XLS you cannot name the workbook sheets. Would Telerik Reporting allow me to do everything I can do already plus what I am missing?

1) Multiple reports combined inside a single export (workbook), XLS only
2) Each report has its own unique name and should be used as the sheet name

Thanks.

Hello Brendon,

Excel in its nature is not a page oriented document format, so we're not sure whether you're not using Excel worksheet as reference to a page. To put it simply, the entire Telerik Report is rendered into a single worksheet when exported to Excel, there is no paging involved. To answer your questions:
  • You can combine multiple Telerik Reports by using a Report Book. When exporting the ReportBook to Excel, each report will occupy a separate worksheet in the Excel workbook.
  • Each worksheet of the Excel workbook will have the name of the respective report.

The above information can be found in the ReportBook Page Settings, Sizes and Naming and Design Considerations for Excel Rendering help articles.

Kind regards,
Steve

Went ahead and downloaded the trial. Wired up a couple of reports inside a ReportBook and all works as expected. Each Report is exported as an individual sheet inside of a workbook in Excel. Awesome. Thanks.
