I have installed the latest Telerik Reporting into my vs2008 environment. I have not used the reporting yet so am just now getting into it. After the install I do not have any telerik toolbox tab or items, and I don't have any Telerik Reporting menu item.
I am able to create a class using the telerik reporting template, however I had to manually add a Telerik Reporting toolbox tab and then add the items to it. However I am not sure how to get the Telerik Reporting menu item to show up.
I can go into designer and lay out a report. Just not sure what all I'm missing with not having the Telerik Reporting menu item or what other part of the install may not have worked correctly.
I looked and I do have the Telerik_Reporting_Q1_2009.zip file in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp
Thx,
Kevin

We would need more information about your environment:
- what is your OS, is it 32/64 bit
- do you have administrative privileges applied while installing?
- do you have instance of VS opened while the install is running?

I'll try an inunstall/reinstall.
I did try a repair. It seems to have modified my Telerik menu item to now have a Reporting sub-item. However it did not create any Telerik toolbox tab or items for me. But I created these manually. So maybe I'll just live with it.
Running 32-bit, vs2008 latest sp, yes I am admin user.
Oh well. Thx.

Hello Kevin,
We're glad that you're able to work with the Reporting menu, however the missing toolbox tab is really strange. I've installed the latest (Q1 SP1) on Windows 2008 and made a test in VS 2008. However it all looks correctly on my machine (see attached screenshot), so I am not sure what went wrong on your machine. Any additional information that you find relevant would be really appreciated.

I am experiencing the same issue. When I installed Reporting Q1 2009 the toolbox tab was there. Today, I noticed It disappeared. Running Vista x64, VS Pro 2008.

Follow-up..
I just attempted the "Repair". On the "Executing SQL Strings" step, I received the error "Failed to connect to SQL Database. (-2147467259 master )". I believe the database I was using at the time of the original install has moved. I assume I'll need to just uninstall and re-install to fix both issues. As a note and possible future enhancement, it may be better to verify the database connection whenever the "Repair" option is used and/or allow the user to skip the db portion of the repair.

Hello Tom,
Your suggestion for allowing the user to skip the database installation is not applicable since it is the installer taking care of that repeating the exact same steps taken during the original installation and there is no way to change that. If you want to skip the database part, you can use the "Change" option instead of "Repair".
As for the toolbox problem - what have you changed on your end that might be relevant to the disappearance of the reporting tab? We have the following questions/suggestions:

As for the toolbox problem - what have you changed on your end that might be relevant to the disappearance of the reporting tab? We have the following questions/suggestions:
- To verify the installation please check whether the "new item" templates are placed in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp\Reporting
and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\VisualBasic\Reporting i.e it should contain a file named Telerik_Reporting_Q1_2009_SP1
If it is missing, the easiest way to recover the installation is to uninstall and then install it again. - one possible reason for the missing templates is if the reporting installer did not detect VS2008 on your machine (in case VS2008 installation is corrupted). You can try repairing it.
- another possibility is deselecting Visual Studio 2008 support during Telerik Reporting install, which in your particular case is not, since you had the items initially.
- if you are under Vista, you must start the installer as administrator, otherwise it would fail producing such quirks.
- open VS cmd prompt and run devenv /setup,
- choose reset from the context menu of the VS toolbox
- use the repair/change option of the Reporting installation.
Sincerely yours,
Steve

I apologize Steve, but I can't answer your questions. I uninstalled and re-installed and everything is back as it should be. Prior to the missing tab issue, I did not have any changes to my workstation. I haven't applied any service packs or OS updates in at least 30 days. I know that everything was working within the last 30 days because I worked on 2 projects using Telerik Reporting. I'll keep an eye on it and if it occurs again, I'll follow-up on your questions.
Also, thank you for the excellent product support! I am truly amazed at the high level of support, dedication, and professionalism at Telerik. Keep up the good work!

I just rebuilt a crashed system and installed Telerik Reporting prior to installing Visual Studio SP1. Reporting installed correctly in Visual Studio 2005 (I needed Versions Q3 2009 and Q2 2010); but, not in Visual Studio 2008. No tabs in VS2008 unless I right clicked the toolbox and clicked "Show All". Then the Telerik Reporting Toolbox tabs for Reporting Q3 2009 and Q2 2010 appeared. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall reporting to see if I can correct the installaion problem now that Visual Studio 2008 SP1 is intalled.
