Hello,

Came across another oddity I'm hoping is a simple solution. I am trying to setup a report template where in the page header I have two rows of text. It might look something like this:

COMPUTER01
Printer List

These two rows are two seperate text boxes one directly above the other. The report uses the default Corporate Style, and at first I had line one using the "Title" style and line 2 using the "Data" style. What I noticed is that COMPUTER01 indents about half a character more than Printer List. I took off the styles and after trying several things, I found that when the text on line 1 is in 18pt and the text on line 2 is in 10pt (the defaults for the style I want to use), even without the style set, the left side does not align. Is there something particular I need to do to make these align properly?

One thing worth mentioning that I did try was I checked the Padding properties and both had all padding set to 0in.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Josh

Hi Josh,

This is interesting and we would further investigate what is going on. For the time being, you can apply left padding to the bottom textbox to "align" the text in both items.

Your Telerik points have been updated for bringing this to our attention.

Kind regards,

Was this issue ever resolved?

I have the current version of Telerik reporting installed and I still get different font sizes (say h1, h2, h3) not left-aligning correctly - left "padding" is proportiaonal to font-size. Using extra padding is not a real solution as any change in font or size for a style will need padding adjusted manually (by eye as there is no way of knowing the exact size of the adjustment needed).

EDIT: Just noted that it is not an issue (or not as noticable/extreme) for HTML but is for PDF which is the important format for us

Hi Sascha,

The current behavior is not a bug, but a design decision, which clearly has its flaws. I've logged this issue to our bug tracking system and it would be addressed for subsequent version of the product. For the time being the only feasible solution is to apply padding.

Please excuse us for the temporary inconvenience.

Hi,
I have the same issue:
Two textboxes, one with font size 20pt and one with 10pt.
How do I left align the 2 boxes?
I tried to set padding-left:0 in the the 2 boxes but it didn't have any effect.

Hi guys,

This issue has been resolved in the Q2 2012 SP1 release, namely:

CHANGE: Text items (TextBox, CheckBox, HtmlTextBox) do not apply automatic left and right padding anymore. Use global style rule with appropriate selector instead.

Thus you should not observe this behavior with the latest version. If you're working on a report created with an older version, make sure you have no padding applied (if necessary remove it).
