Hello KendoUI Team,

I'm about to start work a project for deployment to the Tizen platform (tablet and smartphone). I did a search for "Tizen" in the forums but found no references to it.

Has the KendoUI Team looked into Tizen and/or tested KendoUI Complete for it? Any "gotchas" to watch out for vis-a-vis the use of KendoUI Complete for Tizen?

Will appreciate any definitive response on this.

Hi Oscar,

There is no official support for the Tizen platform in Kendo UI yet. However I've just ran some tests on the Tizen simulator and it seems they are using a WebKit default browser, which means that Kendo UI Mobile will most likely run just fine. By default Kendo UI Mobile will show the iOS theme, but you can force whichever you need.

Thanks Kamen!

I really appreciate the time you spent doing the tests. I hope the KendoUI Team will seriously consider implementing FULL SUPPORT for the Tizen Platform, which I believe is seriously being pushed by Samsung and Intel. It also will make a lot of sense from a business perspective as Tizen gains momentum with the release of Tizen devices a few weeks from now.

Hi Kamen,

Incidentally, were you able to also test the "Editor" sample app (Web) in the Tizen Web Simulator?

Would you know WHY it is that the default text does not appear on the editor when the Editor app is launch in the Simulator? I also can't even write in the writing area.

I'd like to use the Editor widget in a Tizen app and would appreciate any feedback from you.

Best,
Oscar

Hello Oscar,

Indeed the Editor demos do not work in Tizen Web Simulator. However, the simulator does not 100% show how the web site will perform on the mobile device (as it is only a simulator). To check that, fire up the Tizen Mobile Emulator that comes with the SDK (through the Emulator Manager) and you can see that the Kendo UI Web Editor demos work okay there.

The Tizen Web Simulator is actually a Chrome headless browser with the Ripple extension installed and some custom Tizen additions for it. It is intended for quick testing and doesn't guarantee that you application will be 100% working on a real device. The emulator on the other hand is supposed to work like a real device, with some minor or major differences in speed and hardware acceleration.
