Hi,

Some time ago you blogged about Kendo UI on Windows Phone, but what about HTML5 Metro apps for Windows 8 (WinRT)? Are there already plans/discussions on that or is it (way) too early?

I'm not an expert in WinRT, but since HTML5 Metro apps are now first-class citizens of Windows (WinRT-platform), I think this topic will sooner or later come up.

Hi,

You can use Kendo UI in WinRT apps with a few limitations. Some of the components are using the innerHTML DOM to set HTML which WinRT considers harmful. For example the Kendo Chart suffers from this problem.

We will try to resolve all such issues in our future releases.

Hi Atanas,

Thanks for the infos, these are good news. As I understand, Microsoft wants to support WinRT apps on all devices (PC, Tablet, Phones) which runs the new Windows/Kernel (Win 8 / Win Phone 8 "Apollo"). If this is true, the potential of such HTML5 apps is huge.

Since HTML5-WinRT apps are "real apps", this topic could also correlate with my other thread about SPA.

Keep up the good work.

I see this was poste in 2012...has this been fixed in recent updates to Kendo so I can use these in Windows 8? I really want to help test the Scheduler and it would be perfect for my app!

Hi Shannon,

No, this hasn't been addressed. A fix would need profound changes in the whole Kendo UI product which would introduce performance issues (e.g. we can no longer use innerHTML) and probably backwards compatibility issues. We recommend using RadControls for Windows 8 which are specially built for Windows 8.
