Both Kendo UI Mobile & jQuery Mobile are in beta stages. I would like to see a comparison matrix at the some point between the two. I am planning to build a mobile web app and it seems I will be choosing one from these two.

Hi Abdu,

Thanks for sharing this idea with us. I will make sure it will be taken into consideration for the Kendo UI site future updates.

Hi Sebastian,

I, too, am very interested to see a detailed comparison matrix between jQuery Mobile and KendoUI, and I hope soon! :-)

I'm a few weeks away from developing the mobile version of a commercial Adobe AIR desktop application I developed and am excited to see how KendoUI compares with jQuery Mobile.

All the best,
Oscar

+1 for this.  In the mean time, could you please tell us how Kendo UI Mobile compares with jQuery Mobile 'generally speaking'.  Why would we choose Kendo UI Mobile rather than jQuery Mobile?
Thanks.

Hello Patrice,

Generally speaking, our biggest advantage over jQuery Mobile is the native look on different platforms. We will offer a rich component model with its own API and also invest some efforts in being lighter and faster. As always, our support service is also worth taking into account.

Agreed with the support.  We always got awesome support from Telerik.

Another quick question, how much of the KendoUI Web and KendoUI Mobile framework are going to be shared?  Are they going to be completely independant or is one going to be sitting on another, etc.  Trying to understand if we start using KendoUI Web right now, if we will be able to leverage some of our architecture/knowledge to the Mobile framework.

Thanks.

Hello Patrice,

Kendo UI and Kendo Mobile will share some core scripts, e.g. ones that are responsible for animation effects, client datasource and base types definition. The API will have similar naming convention. Other than that, they will not share widget-related code, because the widgets will be different.

I know this thread is a few months old and was wondering if there's any update on the comparison between the 2 frameworks.
