What is the purpose of this property?

I was under the impression that it might be used to indicate that an event extends across the whole day, that is, from 00:00 to 23:59 (or from the open hour up to the close hour).

But if I don't supply a start time and end time, nothing is shown (if I leave out the end time, the duration is that of a single slot located at the specified start time). And if I have to supply a start time and an end time, that kind of defeats the purpose.

What am I missing?

Hello Claire,

Which ViewDefinition are you using? In order to be able to see the all day appointments you should set the ShowAllDayArea property of Day and Week ViewDefinitions and those Appointments will be displayed at the very top as seen in MS Outlook.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I have ShowAllDayArea set to True in my DayViewDefinition.

But even if I set the appointment's IsAllDayEvent  to true, I won't see the appointment in the view unless I also explicitly set at least a start time.

My expectation was that turning on the IsAllDayEvent flag would cause the appointment to cover the whole day automatically, but it seems I was wrong: in the demos, the appointment covers only one slot.

Hi Claire,

Indeed in order to get visualized on a particular day - the Appointment needs to have its Start and End times set. Also if AllDayArea is not shown the Appointment will displayed on its actual place (depending on the Start and End times).

If you have any other questions, let us know.
