But what if I have multiple events on the same day with different timestamps? I want to be able to split the timeline by hours or even minutes. I see this is achievable on other widgets like Scheduler.

If you need to display several events at the same day, you can change the dateFormat to include hours:minutes as well. Here is a small example for reference. The Timeline currently cannot be split to hours/minutes instead of Years. Perhaps the Scheduler will serve you better if you have too many events.
