Hello,

i have a problem with the radRichTextBox, when using .docx files generated with the Telerik Report Designer. (Screenshots attached)

If I create the document by myself in word, the header will be displayed correctly in the radRichTextBox (with RadRibbon).

The telerik control seems to have problems with the table structure inside of the header, as well as hyperlinks that were generated with telerik report Designer.

Does anyone know a solution?

Hi Christoph,

We do not have other reports of similar issues. Would it be possible to attach the document from the image as well (make sure to remove any sensitive information since this is a public forum)?  This will allow us to properly investigate this case and determine where this space is coming from.

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.

Hello,

yes sure. I replaced the attached files with another document, which has the same header problems.
The placeholder logo also is not shown in the word viewer.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I replaced the logo in Report Designer and then i generated the document by our software.
Also any personal information was removed from the document.

Hello Christoph,

The image in the header is not imported due to a missing feature. This is logged on our feedback portal. You can track its progress, subscribe to status changes, and add your comment to it here: RichTextBox: Support import of images defined with v:imagedata element (VML Object) in Docx.

I am afraid I cannot suggest a workaround for this.

I want to apologize for the inconvenience this missing functionality is causing you.

Hello.

while analyzing the word document after unzipping, i saw that the filepath in the header1.xml doesn't match the filename of the logo in the media directory. Maybe this causes the problem.

Can you tell me when the missing functionality will be added?
I really need this feature :-)

Regards

Christoph

Hello Christoph,

Thank you for looking into this but I am afraid that this is not so simple. The image is added as a VML shape which is the part that is not supported in this case. This is an obsoleted way to add shapes to the documents. More information is available here: VML.

I would suggest creating a new version of the document and adding the image or shape using our API or MS Word. This way you will have the desired results.

Let me know how this works for you.

Hello,

thanks for you help.

Do i understand it correctly, that Telerik Report Designer adds the png image as a VML shape?

Adding this in word by hand isn't a solution for me, because the document is generated automatically.

If i understand you right, it could be possible to generate the document with Report Designer without the image,
and after generation it can be added automatically to the document by your api?

Do you have a link to your API documentation for this?

Hi Christoph,

I have tested this and indeed the images are added this way from Reporting. I have logged a feature request for this on our feedback portal. You can track its progress, subscribe to status changes, and add your comment here: Export the images to Word with the new "graphic" and "pic" tags instead of the VML tags

And yes, you understand correctly what I am suggesting and this approach should work as expected. In the following articles you can find more information about how to add the image:

I hope this helps. Should you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.
