Interactivity Feature Availability in Standalone Report Designer

Do I need to buy Report Server in order to use the "interactivity" feature in Report Designer?

Hi Muhannad,

Interactivity in reports is provided via Actions. Actions are configured on designing a report (available in both Telerik Reporting and Telerik Report Server).

If I misunderstood the question, please elaborate on the feature you are searching for.

Hi Stef,

Thanks for your prompt response.  I might not phrased my inquiry properly.  I am aware that the Actions function is available in both products.  But do I need to have Report Server to have the feature enabled or active in runtime?  A colleague suggested that though I can configure Actions using Telerik Reporting, he suggested that I will need the Report Server for this feature to work in production/realtime environment.  How accurate is that?

Hi Muhannad,

In general, you can configure an item's Action property on designing a report. Both Telerik Reporting and Telerik Report Server provide report designers where actions can be configured and tested in design preview.
Telerik Report Server provides a Standalone Designer tool for creating/editing reports.
Telerik Reporting provides Standalone and VS integrated Report Designers.

To preview the designed report, you can use:

• Telerik Report Server - the TRDX must be uploaded on server. On preview the server starts a page with an HTML5 Viewer automatically (Reports Management).
  You can also integrate an HTML5 Viewer from a custom application with the Report Server (How To: Use HTML5 Report Viewer with Report Server);
• Telerik Reporting - the TRDX can be displayed in an application which has a viewer in it (How To: Use HTML5 Report Viewer in an application).
