Install a latest version

Hi

I'm developing a application with a version of Telerik from 2017 R2, but I want to install a new version 2020 R2.
My question is: The new version is compatible with all controls of the old version?  If not how to I install it without affect my application ?

We always encourage our customers to keep as latest version as possible. Thus, you can always benefit from all the introduced new features and controls. In general, the versions are compatible. 

I believe that you wouldn't experience any serious issue when upgrading from 2017 to 2020-21. The easiest way to upgrade is to uninstall the previous version from the Windows >> Control Panel and install the desired new version. You can download the .msi from your Telerik account:

Then, you will need to update the referred Telerik assemblies in your project with the ones from the fresh installation:

An alternative option is to use the Project Upgrade Wizard: https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/visual-studio-integration/visual-studio-extensions/upgrade-project 

It is recommended to review the release history in order to get familiar with the changes introduced between the two Telerik versions:

Sometimes, it is possible to experience any breaking changes which are listed in the release history and there are also suggestions how to replace the specific code.
