I need to include Rad Document( or a PDF or a DOCX) in a Telerik report.  The document is stored as varbinary in a database as a column in the rows.  This document is a table that was originally created in a RadRichTextEditor control.  I need this table to show up in my report as part of the detail section associated with each of those rows.

I keep running into road blocks attempting to work around the fact that there appears to be no means of using the Telerik products to render Telerik content in a Telerik report.  I can find no means of getting this content into the report.

Has anyone else run into this issue?  If so, will you please share your solution to this problem?

Thank you!

Hello Scott,

Below is a quote from my post in your support ticket on a similar question:
"Telerik reports can use only native reporting items e.g Table/List/Crosstab item - Report Structure. Merging already existing documents with reports is not supported by the reporting engine.

Instead you can test using Telerik Document Processing Libraries, or create the whole document as a Telerik Report that can be exported in the supported formats.
"

The idea is that the reporting engine includes data analysis and visualization based on different mechanisms than controls, beside the rendering capabilities. Rad Documents purpose is to let you render/convert content that you create/import/modify in different formats. Telerik controls like grids also support export in various formats.

Thanks, Stef, I think I get the problem now.

One follow up question...  Are their plans to implement a RadDocument Export-to-JPEG function?  I see the Export-to-PDF function, but that will still not allow me to create an image to import into a PictureBox in the report.  As of right now I have to use a highly convoluted approach to get my content into my report.

Thank you again for your patience and help.

Hi Scott,

Please check this feature request - PdfProcessing: Export document pages to images,
and describe your scenario in the comments.

Meanwhile, we can suggest you to export in HTML and to use a Browser control to produce an image. Please consider the example provided by my colleague here.

Stef
