I was working with the editor today and noticed that for underline it does an inline <span style="text-etc wrapper on the element instead of the <u> I was expecting.
Why does it do this, cross-browser issue or something?

Hello Steve,
This is done because the underline tag was deprecated in HTML4.01. Alas, it was reintroduced in HTML5. Either way, this behavior cannot be modified at this time, but you can post-process the editor content to convert it in any format you need.

If it's part of 5 though, you guys will eventually update the editor though right? I don't really dig the idea of post-processing every single editor we use.
Just looking for a "yeah we know about it, will fix later"

Hello Steve,
This has been requested several times; however, the b / i / u tags do not convey semantic meaning. At the end, this is more of a feature that we have in mind (configuration option of what tags to export). We have logged it for consideration, but you can raise its priority by logging it on UserVoice.
