Hello,

How can I make a panel or detail row in the grid have a gradient background?

I only see one color I can set for the background color of either. I tried using an image (gradient) as the background image and repeated it with the RepeatX option and it worked except I can see on the panel where each image is repeated (i.e. there are visible vertical lines across my panel.

Should I create a new gradient image that matches the width of my report so the repeating won't happen or is there a better way to get gradient on a panel?

Thanks.

Hi Gary Campbell,

Currently report items support only solid colors for the background and if you need something different you have to simulate it with a custom background image. For example of a similar approach you may examine the Multicolumn report from the Telerik Reporting samples.

Hi

I think this is not exactly what Gary asked.
The question is when you set a repeating background image it will have 1px stripes between each image. Here's the screenshot:

The other similar issue: when you set a background image for a shape it will not render at all. How to overcome this?

Thank you.

Hi Raido Valgeväli,

This behavior is observed in rare cases when a specific combination of item size, designer zoom and background image size occur. You may try zooming in/out and see how the picture changes. If you experience this behavior at run time you may try using a larger background image to reduce the repeat count (and also improve the rendering performance).

This is actually not the case. I have tried similar bitmaps (.gif, .jpg) with several widths and no matter how much I zoom in/out the stripes are there. Unluckily worst at 100% :)
So are they (the stripes) on the designer, preview and output.

What about setting background image to a shape, it does not show at all ?

Hello Raido Valgeväli,

Did you try using a single background image large enough so it doesn't repeat at all? The larger image will fulfill the entire item, it won't repeat and you won't see blank lines.

Regarding the Shape item - currently only the background color is respected for the shape item and setting any background image won't take any effect.

Sincerely yours,
