get current mode of grid

Is there a way to get the current mode of the grid inside a column template? I want to check if the grid is in edit mode within a column template so I can act on it.

Hi Dan,

The current mode of the grid could be get in a template, but at the time the template is rendered, the grid is always in display mode, so the result will always be the same. Could you explain what are you trying to achieve, so I will be able to assist you further?
