Filtering Child Grid

Hi Telerik Team,

I am using hierarchy grid, in which I am setting the datasource as a dataset. In the dataset I have almost 250 rows in the main grid and more than 20,000 under each of these 250 rows as child rows. My problem is if I expand the first row and use filtering row to filter in the first child grid to filter the rows according to the given criteria. It filters for all of the child rows according to the same criteria.

I want to change this behaviour that if I am searching data in a specific child grid it should limit only to that child grid not all of them.

Please advice how can I achieve this behaviour.

I'm not sure if you can do that (hopefully telerik will tell you it's possible) but the the data under each of the parent rows is linked to one child template, and therefore when you add a filter to one of the children you are adding the filter to the child template. this is why you are seeing the filter apply over all the children, regardless of which parent the child row has.

Like Richard said, this is not possible. The reason is that all child views belong to the same template and the filtering operation applies on all views. Currently there is no way to do this using RadGridView.

Just wondering if the response to this thread is still the same for the latest release?

I have tried this using the Hierarchy First Look Demo in the Q2 2013  release - when filtering a child grid, the filter is applied to all child grids. The same applies for sorting.

Is there currently any way to only apply a filter / sort to a single child grid?

Thank you for writing.

I can confirm that the way the filtering functionality works is still on a template level and in fact the control architecture relies on this structure, hence it is not possible to achieve the desired behavior.
