The Grid widget does not have built-in feature for XML export, but you could take a look at the following forum thread for links with discussions and suggestions:
As for getting reference to the underlying dataItems of the selected rows, you can use the "select" and the "dataItem" method of the Grid:
The first method returns the TR elements of the selected rows and the second method returns the dataItem for particular TR element.
